Council 12 Scheduling Update

From you AFA Council 12 Scheduling Committee:

We wanted to provide you an update regarding the lines of flying at LAX and SAN:

SAN
Currently, there has been slow and gradual increases of lines of flying for SAN thanks to transfer activity into the base, and the Company’s desire to maintain few reserves in the base. As a few Flight Attendants transfer in almost monthly, then we see a coordinated increase of the number of lines of flying as the overall headcount in the base increases.

LAX
With the change of seasons, LAX is seeing a change of flying. At the end of October, LAX will see the end of the seasonal early LHR(flights 230/231). The Company has not indicated whether early LHR will return in the Spring of 2025.

Late LHR(flights 923/935) will be flown out of the LHR base at the start of the November bid month for the Winter season. The Company currently plans to return the LHR flying to LAX once we transition to the Spring 2025 schedule. This information is subject to change.

The second HKG will be daily upon its start at the end of the October bid month.

PVG, which is currently operating four days a week, will become daily at the start of the November bid month.

MEL is slated to return to daily service beginning with the December 2024 bid month. The daily flight is expected to return to 3 days a week in Spring.

The Company indicated that thanks to some of the seasonality of some routes, flying at LAX has created fluctuations of staffing of International Pursers at LAX. In other words, the Company would like consistent numbers of International Pursers holding hard lines with a few actually being on reserve. Rather than a few Pursers being on reserve during certain times of the year, and many Pursers siang reserve during other times, the Company would like a consistent number of Pursers on reserve throughout the whole year with the upcoming schedule changes. This is why we see the movement of LHR flying back to the LHR base for the Winter.

Speaking of reserve, all regular reserve lines at LAX for the November bid month will be 16 days off. Of course, those Flight Attendants holding regular reserve in LAX, contractually, can convert 4 days off back to reserve availability to increase their guarantee back up to 78 hours. International Purser reserve lines, and language-qualified reserve lines will all remain at the contractual minimum of 12 days off.
