A message from Local Executive Council President, Kimberly Burckhalter
Dear AFA Council 12 Members
Happy New Year! I want to thank you for all the support, activism, and participation in your union over the last year. It is only through your efforts that we can speak to United with one voice. Our future is bright for 2024! We have a lot of work to do, and we will be successful in achieving the Industry-Leading contract all of you have clearly identified as the number 1 priority. This won’t be easy, though.
We are going to have to fight harder than ever before! United senior management does not respect Flight Attendants. If they did, we would have a contract NOW! Time is running out, and we will not stand by and watch management close deals with all other workgroups and take their own bonuses home to their families while Flight Attendants suffer. We won’t stand for it. We won’t back down! We won't give up! Flight Attendants spend more time with passengers than any other workgroup. Flight Attendants Matter!
Our differences and our opinions are what make us unique and what gives us strength! Despite our diverse positions on any subject, there is one thing that we all have in common: We want an Industry-Leading contract NOW! If we keep that goal in mind, the sky is the limit!
Yes, we are going to have a happy New Year! We are going to generate that happiness by ensuring United hears our voices and delivers that Industry-Leading contract. Now is the time to come out stronger than ever. Save the date! Join us for a Flight Attendant industry-wide protest event on February 13th, where all Flight Attendants across the country at every airline will step out to let the airline management elites know that corporate greed has got to go!
Let’s lock arms. Let’s stand up. Let’s FIGHT BACK! Unity brings strength!
In Solidarity,
Kimberly A. Burckhalter
