MEC Officer Message - The Power of Solidarity over Uncertainty

MEC Officer Message - The Power of Solidarity over Uncertainty

As a Union, we represent a diverse group of individuals made up of different political parties, backgrounds, beliefs, and values. Our diversity and differences are the foundation of our Union and our country. Much like our Union, our country prides itself on Democracy. On November 5, 2024, the American people showed up and participated in the General Election, exercising their right to vote.

The election results left some of our Members feeling lost and uncertain, but the need to move forward must be at the forefront of our workgroup. We must keep pressing forward to achieve what we deserve. As we are often called to do, we must uphold the principles of who we are as Flight Attendants and our nature of caring for others, irrespective of what we may be feeling inside.

It is incumbent upon each of us to continue to leverage our Solidarity and our power to advance our profession and advance our careers. For a significant part of our country's history, Unions have been the driving force to give working people a voice and an investment in our future. Today is no different. Although the path may have changed, our Solidarity is our only way forward.

We must reject any and all efforts to divide us, not only among the company but also ourselves. Only through working together in Solidarity can we move forward towards the success we all deserve. In the days and weeks to come, despite our differences, we must do what we always do: come together and carry on the collective fight towards the profession and Contract we have earned and deserve. This is not the first time we have been challenged in our beliefs and strength, nor will it be the last. Our fight is with a management team who do not value who we are and what we do. We know our worth!

Our focus must be refined, and our mindset resolute on working together to achieve greatness, not just for today but also for tomorrow and the future generations who come behind us. Regardless of what anyone may do, no one can take away who we are, which is a force to be reckoned with. We can accomplish anything if we set our mind to it.

Today and tomorrow and every day, we have each other's back, which is far more than enough to get through anything together. We may occasionally be detoured, but we will not be deterred or denied what we deserve. Today is what it is, but tomorrow is for us to determine. Stay strong. Stay together. Let's make a difference.

In Solidarity,

Ken Diaz, President
Adam Novish, Vice President
Christopher Clarke, Secretary Treasurer
