A Message from President Kimberly Burckhalter
On behalf of myself and all of the Executive Officers of Council 12, I would like to wish you and your families a happy, safe, and well deserved Labor Day.
Whether you are on the job or fortunate enough to have the day or the entire weekend off, please take a moment to reflect on the past year and what we have accomplished together.
With Solidarity at the forefront of my mind, thousands of your fellow union siblings at United stood together, fought hard, picketed, and ultimately won an excellent contract. Their victory is proof that the labor movement is alive and well in this country, and it is a reminder of what we can accomplish when we stand united.
A victory like this is not just a win for those who fought for it. It is a win for all working people, whether they belong to a union or not. When workers stand together and demand the respect, dignity, and fair treatment they deserve, everyone benefits.
As we celebrate Labor Day, let us remember the generations of working men and women who fought before us to build the labor movement we have today. Let us also recognize that the work is far from over. The strength of our movement depends on each and every one of us continuing to stand together, support one another, and fight for a better future.
Enjoy the holiday, stay safe, and take pride in what we have accomplished and in what we can accomplish together.
